Corrosion Protection Bituminous TapeThe specially formulated corrosion protection bituminous tape/corrosion resistant bitumen compound provides high softening point, high penetration and high resistance to ageing. The tape comprises of high tensile strength thermofusible hm hdpe film on both the sides.
Uses: Pipe wrap-bt is designed for application on buried and immersed pipes, fittings and appurtenances to protect them from high corrosive environment. For application on steel substrates and steel fittings, a coat of shalitex primer (fd) is required.
Application: Pipelines when treated in the correct way with shalitex primer (fd) and wrapped with pipewrap-bt remain corrosion free for at least 25 years. The pipe surface should be cleaned thoroughly either with wire brush or should be sand blasted. On the cleaned surface shalitex primer (fd) is applied at 90 ml/sqm to get dft of 30 microns. The surface should be allowed to touch dry (30 minutes at least). For application on weld joints, necessary welding and testing of the joint should first be completed. The remaining procedure remains the same as that of pipe. Overlap of 50mm should be there on each side of the weld joint. Pipewrap-bt is recommended to be applied at the time of pipe erection and lowering inside the trenches to avoid any damage. While in storage, pipe wrap-bt roll must be stacked properly undercover. Health and Safety: Pipe wrap-bt is non hazardous in normal conditions of use. Please refer to health and safety data sheets available on request.
